Patricia Ellen Wood

Patricia Ellen Wood

13th April 1934 – 9th April 2021

Patricia, known lovingly as Pat, was born in Wangaratta on 13th April 1934 to Ellen and Arthur Jack. She had 2 younger siblings, Marie and Ronald.

After spending her childhood being raised by her grandmother in Greta, she went to work at the local Post Office (PMG it was named back then) as a telephonist. She made many friends including Anne Canny, Faye Crookes and Lorna Wood.

Lorna Wood (Cheong) introduced her to her brother Ronald Wood and they were married on 16th April 1960. They left Wangaratta after getting married and moved down to Melbourne. Initially they lived in Footscray and eventually moved to 64 McCracken Street Essendon where they had their three children, Peter (1961), Suellen (1963) and Jayne (1964). Their dream home was built in Strathmore Heights in 1967 and the family settled there for over 20 years.

Pat helped Ron create their diesel repair business (R.A. & P.E. Wood) in Airport West when they retired in 1990 after over 20 years of business. In 1991 they moved back to Hedderwick Street in Essendon to spend their retirement where they pottered in the garden and enjoyed the local shopping precinct. It was also a home where they welcomed their 7 grandchildren. Their last home was in Niddrie close to the shops, doctors and great neighbours.

Pat and Ron were married for almost 60 years.

Rest in Peace Mum xxx
